The collection includes a number of Russian propaganda posters ranging from the early days of World War I to the Russian civil war and the Revolution.
"Dorozhe zhizni" ["Dearer than life"] unpublished samizdat typescript
This collection consists of an unpublished Russian novella typescript written by an anonymous author during approximately the 1960s. The typescript describes a fictional prisoner's experience of a Gulag and the NKVD.

Jeffrey Brooks collection of Russian postcards
A collection of 341 Russian postcards dating from approximately 1905 to 1989, as well as a cabinet card from 1882, produced by a variety of publishers, likely primarily for sale at Russian museums. The images on the postcards are mostly reproductions of art, in color and black and white, on a variety of themes ranging from Russian folklore to meditations on labor, war, and death.
Johns Hopkins University Russian postcards collection
This is an artifically assembled collection of Russian-made postcards, with materials selected by the curators of Special Collections. The postcards date from approximately 1900 to the 1930s.
Russian subbotnik poster
Russian poster with Russian phrase that can be translated as, "Everyone come out for the Communist subbotnik!", 1974. Subbotniks were days of volunteer work following the October Revolution that took place on Saturday. The tradition is continued in modern Russia and some other former Soviet Republics. Subbotniks are mostly organized for cleaning the streets of garbage, fixing public amenities, collecting recyclable material, and other community services.
Samizdat manuscript
This collection includes one volume of Veche, a samizdat manuscript of underground Russian literature, published in 1972 by Vladimir Osipov. Samizdat means "self-published" in Russian.
